Qantas’ facility in Brisbane, which carries out maintenance for the B767 fleet, will start establishing A330 heavy maintenance operations in 2010. This development is meant to accommodate its A330 fleet for on shore facility needs. LTP will be supporting Qantas in building the facility and on occasions when capacity to conduct A330 maintenance activities falls short in Brisbane.
”LTP is very pleased in being able to continue servicing the Qantas / Jetstar A330 fleet and will not stop with any kind of assistance to our customer when Brisbane is starting to operate,” expressed Dirk Petereit, LTP Business Development Manager and Sales Executive.
The Australian-based operator has been acquiring Airbus A330 base maintenance services from LTP since 2006. From smaller C-checks to heavy maintenance requirements, the stable relationship between Qantas and LTP is attributed particularly to the close cooperation of Qantas with LTP’s materials, logistics and engineering divisions; not to mention the Australian, Filipino and German colleagues involved. Qantas is also storing supplies that need to be delivered to LTP. Such collaboration has allowed LTP to significantly reduce turnaround time (TAT) to six calendar days on a C1 check and 22 calendar days on a C4 check.
Qantas is the world’s second oldest airline and Australia’s largest domestic and international airline operator. The flying businesses of the Qantas Group operate under two major brands—Qantas and Jetstar. Domestically, Qantas, Qantaslink and Jetstar operate nearly 5,300 flights a week serving 58 city and regional destinations in all states and mainland territories. Internationally, Qantas and Jetstar operate more than 860 flights each week. The Group’s international network comprises 151 destinations in 38 countries, including Australia and those shared by codeshare partner airlines.
Jetstar is Australia’s and Singapore’s low cost, value-based airline for Australia and the Asia-Pacific. It operates more than 1,300 flights a week to 30 ports on short haul domestic, Australian international and long haul international routes. It is now operating domestic New Zealand services between Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington, and Queenstown.
