Lufthansa Technik shows strong support to LTP's CSR Program

Donation of 4,400 euros goes to children's hospital

Believing in the noble cause of Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP) in providing a better future for Filipino children through the alleviation of learning conditions in Philippine schools, Lufthansa Technik (LHT) showed its strong support to LTP's Corporate Social Responsibility Program.

No less than LHT Chairman of the Board, August Wilhelm Henningsen led an impromptu collection of donation in support of LTP's CSR program during the annual LHT Christmas dinner.

After a slide presentation on LTP's CSR program, Mr. Henningsen urged the attendees to make a donation to the program. This request was made the old fashioned way ---by passing a basket around.

Through this effort, LHT was able to collect 4,400 euros. It was not the first time that Mr. Henningsen and LHT have shown staunch support to LTP's social responsibility program. In 2007, LHT donated 3,600 euros to the program.

"On behalf of the management and employees of LTP, I would like to express my deepest gratitude for the support of LHT Chairman, Mr. Henningsen and Lufthansa Technik to our CSR Program. I am truly touched by this gesture which underscores LHT's belief and support in LTP's aim of helping Filipino children," said Bernhard Krueger-Sprengel, LTP President and CEO.

LTP feels both blessed and honored to receive this kind patronage from LHT and understands the duty bestowed upon its employees and management. LTP is the only known subsidiary which has an approved CSR program in the LHT group. More than being aware of LTP's CSR program both Mr. Henningsen and LHT Executive Board - Finance Dr. Peter Jansen, who are part of the LTP Board, are supportive of the program.

In his speech, Mr. Henningsen complimented LTP's undertaking and pointed out the importance of giving back to the countries that LHT has presence by being socially responsible.

The LHT donation will be used to buy equipment for one of Kythe Foundation's affiliate hospitals, the National Children's Hospital.

Kythe Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides psychological help to pediatric patients with chronic illness such as cancer or hemophilia. The advocacy of Kythe is to help children ease the physical, emotional, psychological anxiety brought about by their disease.

"The LTP employees through our Employees Council is heavily involved in making sure that we give the necessary equipment that would make life easier for these afflicted children," added Krueger-Sprengel.

Since the launch of its Corporate Social Responsibility Program in 2007, LTP has contributed to 22 public school and educational facilities in the Philippines.

LTP was able to build and repair school buildings, classrooms, libraries, toilets, and provide new books and chairs. LTP's Corporate Social Responsibility program benefited schoolchildren from nearby cities and far flung provinces.

"LTP is committed in aiding Filipino children to have better futures. For us helping involves more than writing checks. This commitment is felt and practiced by everybody in the organization--- from the board of directors, the management team and the employees. Our frequent follow-up visits to our beneficiaries have enabled us to form relationships that we believe would last long after these children have grown up," concluded Kruger-Sprengel.
