Design Organization Approval extended to LTP
First subsidiary to receive EASA 21 extension from LHT
Another feather was recently added to Lufthansa Technik Philippines’ cap.
Last February, Lufthansa Technik AG extended its EASA 21 Design Organization Approval to LTP---making the Manila facility the first subsidiary to receive EASA 21 extension from LHT.
This extension means that LTP can now develop minor repairs or alterations without the needed coordination with OEMs such as Airbus and Boeing.
Bernhard Conrads, LHT Head of Design Organization and SVP, Lufthansa Technik, who personally handed over certificates to the new LTP Design Engineers said that this development puts LTP’s customers to an advantage because of the time and cost savings that this would bring.
Without this certification, LTP and its customers had to wait for the OEMs’ recommendations at an added cost, before an aircraft can be released, thereby affecting the aircraft’s turnaround time.
The certification and qualification process was first initiated in 2007. LTP sent its engineers for classroom and on-the-job training in LHT to become Design Engineers (DEs). After this long process, LTP now has three Des namely: Dionisio Aguila, Manuel Ventura, and Joel Barredo.
The next step for LTP is to have authorized Verification Engineers (VE) out of the DE. In this set-up the approval process will all be made in-house in LTP.
For now, LHTs Verification Engineers and Certification engineers will approve the Change/ Repair Approval Sheet (CRAS) prepared by the LTP Design Engineers.
Lufthansa Technik Chairman of the Executive Board, August Wilhelm Henningsen, congratulated LTP for this achievement. During the town meeting at LTP, Henningsen expressed his appreciation for LTP’s efforts in improving its services to its customers through the acquisition of new capabilities.
