LTP receives international line maintenance award
100% on-time performance on Etihad Airways
Lufthansa Technik Philippines was recently given a line maintenance international award by Etihad Airways for 100% punctuality. This award aims to recognize the quality of service and adherence to standards set on the handling of Etihad aircraft for the year of 2008.
Anno Schneider, LTP Vice President Aircraft Maintenance received the award from John Dominic Harvey, Etihad Airways Regional Maintenance Manager – Asia Pacific, who presented it to LTP on behalf of Werner Rothenbaecher, Etihad Airways Executive Vice President.
LTP has started providing complete line maintenance services for Boeing 777 aircraft last year. Etihad Airways, United Arab Emirate’s national airline, has entrusted its B777-300ER to LTP for these line services. Supplemental to line maintenance for aircraft on ground are backup services readily available within LTP such as—but not limited to—sheet metal works, nondestructive testing, engineering capabilities, and widebody hangar features. The earnest commitment of LTP to deliver quality aircraft maintenance to its customers has been duly acknowledged with such award given by Etihad Airways.
LTP is heavily investing in purchasing additional tools and materials since it expanded its capability to include the B777. Three batches of mechanics specializing on B777 aircraft have been flown to Abu Dhabi for extensive on-thejob training. Each batch is scheduled for a six-month training period to further equip them with the expertise in handling B777s. These preparations are all coming in line with the arrival of Philippine Airlines’ further addition of B777 aircraft at the end of 2009.
Aside from Manila, the line maintenance award was given only to four other line maintenance service providers within the Etihad Airways network: Amman, Brisbane, Jeddah, and Geneva.
