Cabin reconfiguration: The pieces fall into place
|
2nd Quarter Customer Edition 2010
A different case of cabin fever. The demand for cabin reconfiguration remains hot.
One of the reasons for this demand is the need by carriers to constantly update and standardize the look and features of its cabin. This stems from the reality that the aircraft cabin defines the public's perception of an airline. It is THE factor that differentiates one airline from another.
Another factor that heats up the demand is the change of operator. Aside from the obvious repainting of an aircraft's exterior, the aircraft also needs modification in its interior to match the other aircraft in the fleet.
Also, an aircraft's interior usually needs to be reconfigured once or twice during its operational life span when for instance, an airline re-brands or when it chooses to relayout the cabin for marketing reasons.
Considering all these motives, it is safe to conclude that regardless of the business model that an airline follows, operators would always remain feverish over the state of their aircraft cabins because they count on it to "wow" the passengers and at the same time put additional money in the coffer.
